Lorenzo was one of the sweetest little babies. He was was just a tiny little fellow who was in the upper 5 pound range when he came to see me! He was a great little sleeper and I had so much fun with him! His momma was a lot of fun to spend time with as well! She lives out of state, but came back to Michigan to give birth so that she and her husband could be around family. I love that she chose deeper colors for his session too! The teals and greens look fantastic on Lorenzo!
I met Emma (and her big brothers) last year for her newborn session! It was a pleasure to have her come back up to the studio for her cake smash session! Emma is a very happy baby girl that loves to clap her hands. She has the cutest smile loves to move around! That is, until it came time for her cake. Her momma was so sure that she was going to just love her cake. But Emma was a bit unsure of the whole thing. I think sometimes the sweetness of the frosting can be a bit much for some babies. Even though she wasn’t the most enthusiastic, she still did a great job and I had a lot of fun working with her.
Now that we are officially starting a brand new year, let’s look back at all the newest little residents of Metro Detroit that came to see me for their newborn session in 2018!
It was definitely an interesting and incredibly busy year here at Jennifer Hosking Photography. The newborns definitely arrived in little “baby booms”. Certain months were particularly busy, especially February/March and September! It was also a big year for siblings! I would guesstimate that nearly half of the newborns that came to see me in 2018 were a baby sibling! Most belonging to clients that I have worked with in the past. I always enjoy seeing “my” families as they grow! Each time they come in, I become a little more attached to them. It is also so fun to see how babies that I have worked with in the past grow up and to be able to talk to the about the things that they like and the fun that they have.
I want to thank all of my clients that have chosen me to capture their baby during their first days of life. I truly enjoy every minute that I spend working with them (and the parents as well!). I am so lucky to have this job and I thank you for choosing me to be the one to document your baby in photographs.
The year in review posts are always a favorite of mine to post. It’s so fun to look back on a whole year worth of baby milestone sessions and see how they have grown. Speaking of growth, I see some of my own artistic growth in there as well! I love to to look through each folder on my computer and look back on each baby’s session…. then agonize over which image I want to add to the collage. I smile and remember how one baby loved their cake and ate it with enthusiasm, while another baby would rather eat Cheerios than their cake. Or how I had some little sitters that were a little shy with me, and others that thought my fake sneezes were hilarious and singing of Itsy Bitsy Spider was the best (trust me, it’s not!)
2018 was definitely an interesting year for Jennifer Hosking Photography. There were definitely some ups and downs, like when my old website was hacked (certainly a big down!). So many clients came back as they added baby #2 or #3 to their families! It is such a thrill to see so many families come back and an even bigger thrill to see kids that were once tiny little newborns themselves, now adorable and silly toddlers and kids!
Thank you to all that have trusted me to photograph their little ones in their first year. It’s such a pleasure to be chosen to captures these adorable little faces!
I have been working with the Wong Family ever since oldest sister Millie was just a little one. I’ve worked with Madeline through her milestones and I have also worked with Lucas. Lucas has done his final milestone session with me, which is definitely a bittersweet occasion. I have enjoyed working with this family and definitely feel an attachment to them. Lucas is definitely a cautious little guy. He reminds me a bit of my own son when he was that age. He was definitely not too sure of me for his last couple sessions, but put a cake in front of him and his personality really comes out! We worked a bit to keep Lucas happy for the first half of the session and I was so happy to see that he really had fun with his cake!
It has been a pleasure to work with this family and will miss seeing these gorgeous kids in my studio!
