Emma was on my calendar with a due date of New Year’s Eve, but she decided to start the party a couple weeks early.  Speaking of party, this little gal was having too much fun at her session to allow herself to fall asleep!  Fortunately she was mostly calm while she was awake, so I did what I could with hopes that wrapping her would make her cozy enough to drift off into dreamland.  She did eventually fall into a light sleep, but she made sure that I saw plenty of her eyes during her session!  In fact, it’s often these sessions where we work really hard to get what we need where I feel like I get some of my favorite images.   PINimage

Speaking of favorites, Emma has 3 older brothers who are so incredibly sweet and well behaved!  Brandon, Matthew, and William did such a great job and love their new baby sister very much!

I always think of my newborn review post as my “grand finale” of every year.  Newborn Photography is the heart and soul of Jennifer Hosking Photography.  It is what I am most passionate about and the sessions that feed my creative soul.  The time I spend putting together and planning each session gives me such joy.  I strive to make every newborn session unique, while staying consistent with my poses and styling. My goal is that each session has something that is new for that client and that no two sessions are the same. Of course, it’s the little ones that come into my studio that put a smile on my face! I love the details that make each baby special.  I always joke with the parents that come in and say “baby is my boss for the day”, and it is so true!  They really do dictate how each session will go.  This year has been the busiest and most interesting!  I started the year with so many sleepy easy newborns, and ended with wide awake and opinionated little ones!  That is definitely what keeps the job interesting!  This year I celebrated 3 years in my current studio space in Mt Clemens and signed on for another 3 years!  I became a little more adventurous with color, been working on different wrapping techniques and have been using some old props in new ways.  I am very much looking forward to 2018 newborns!  I have quite the baby boom coming in February and will be seeing many of my past clients that are adding on to their families!  Here is to a successful and fun new year in 2018!

It’s that time of year again!  At the end of every year, I love to go through all of my sessions and post a favorite image of every baby that I worked with over the course of the year.  There is something very satisfying about seeing all these adorable faces together as I reflect on my work and growth.  Of course, it’s the growth of these little ones that make it all possible!  Between sitter sessions and cake smashes, it’s been a very busy year for baby milestones!  In fact, cake smash sessions are becoming a big part of my session bookings and it looks like I will be busy shooting more of them in 2018! I also want to take this opportunity to encourage those interested in baby milestone sessions in 2018 to join my Facebook VIP group.  I will be holding my semi annual sitter mini sessions (for 6-10 month olds) toward the end of March and VIP members get the first opportunity to book! The VIP group is also where I announce my availability status and any other special events.  I am  currently booked at my max sessions all the way through March, with April and May filling up quickly.  I only take on a limited number of sessions each month and tend to fill up quickly with newborn due dates!  It’s always good to inquire about milestone sessions at least 4 months in advance.  I love seeing these adorable faces in my studio, and look forward to seeing so many that I worked with as newborns grow into toddlers!

It seems like just yesterday when I met little Ava.  She was born just over 3 weeks before her due date!  She was in a hurry to be born in 2016 before the new year.  She was a tiny little peanut who was definitely opinionated about what I did with her hands during her newborn session.  I got to see her again over the summer when she had a 6 month milestone session.  She was still a petite little lady and so sweet!  Now she is just about to celebrate her first birthday!!!!!  Ava is certainly a little lover.  She is all about hugs and snuggles.  She isn’t as big of a fan of sitting in one spot for photos, but that is often the case with 1 year olds.  However, she did surprise me when she showed that she wasn’t very interested in cake!  She was such a little stinker and would push it away and crawl to her mommy or me.  We would put her back in place and she would repeat!  Such a sweet and silly girl!  Happy first Birthday Ava!

I got to meet Luka earlier this month for his newborn session.  This little guy was so sweet and adorable.  He was definitely not a fan of the naked on the beanbag portion, but was happy as can be as long as he was wrapped up all snug!  I feel like that has been a theme with my newborn boys over the last couple months!  However, he was so sweet and I loved his adorable lips and perfect little face.
